Can you acquire faith?

We all have the same amount of faith, but we put it in different things. Some of those things don't pan out like the prodigal son. In a sense you are wondering if you aren't slopping the hogs yourself, but aren't ready to return to your father like the son did because you still associate God with your father and aren't sure if he has things right either. When you ask the questions, you will get answers and your faith will be directed toward truth instead of belief.
