How do MTV Challenge Interviews work?

Do they film the interviews while the show is recorded? Do they film the contestants after the season is aired & they just have to show excitement in their faces to not make it obvious they were eliminated later on in the season or what? I'm curious. I'm a huge fan of MTV Real World Challenges. I was thinking about it while watching Challenge: Rivals the other night.. Thanks!
