How do you stop moss growing on grass?

fter a lot of travell(4years) have decided to settle for a while, rented a little place at Harrington nsw, lawn had lots of bindi, and also lots of moss growing through and over it, have sucessfully treated the bindi but cant get rid of the moss, has any one got any advise as to this end
